Waiting for the machine
A tiny little project that got a bit out of hand. I aimed high with the concept and managed to weave multiple stories across the 6 shutters.
Initially I was approached to paint some shutters for a cluster of shops comprising a cafe, a book and record store and a basement drinking den.
I had an idea to pick an assortment of books from the shop and create an illustration based on the contents of the first page I opened in each. The illustrations would be patched together into a random comic strip and painted onto the shutters.
In the end I had generated so much artwork that as well as the shutter paintings, I made a little ‘zine, a set of newsprint posters and held a pop up exhibition in the gin bar.
